On The Campaign Trail

Thank goodness for family

Posted April 4, 2008

They say you'll always have your family. And that's true. You can always count on your family. I depend on mine in this campaign.

It's a busy world and folks have a lot of important things to do. They have their own work, families, friends, volunteer obligations and so much more to control their time. People are busy.

So in any campaign, you do ask a lot of family. My husband works all the time. Thank goodness he does. I had to quit my job to do this campaign. So he's the source of our income.

Since my husband works all the time, one of my brothers has picked up the "slack" for lack of better term. Not that my husband is slack, he's just busy. (Oops, I hope he doen't read this particular blog.)

So, back to my brother. The other night... my husband said, "Your brother's moved in hasn't he?"

"Ummmmm, yes, I hope you don't mind," I replied, quickly adding, "I can't do it without him."

My brother isn't an organizer. He's not particularly outgoing. And he's not someone who knows lots of people. But I trust him. He doesn't lie. When he says he put three 4X8s out. He put three 4X8s out.

When he says he made contact with folks I asked him to contact, I know he did.

The two of us have been working together all morning on yet another project. He just stepped out to mail some letters. So I get a break. And I'm sure he's thinking, he's gotten a break.

Lord knows I love him, and I'm sure he feels the same way. But sometimes we get on each other's nerves. If he does it once, he does it a hundred times a day. He tells me over and over again, "Sarah, this way won't work. What are you trying to accomplish with that?"

He's such a naysayer that when an event does go well and he says to me, "Good job" those words mean more to me than the actual success of the event.

Uh oh... he's back.
