Good folks lend a hand

Posted April 20, 2008

Yesterday was crazy. After a morning meeting, I went out to the Homeland Park area to say hello to the folks there. Wow was I impressed. It was raining and people were hard at work.

The amount of trash picked up was fantastic. The event -- which battled rain -- was a huge success. I love it when members of a community decide to get together and do something positive. It was obvious that a tremendous amount of work had been put into the Homeland Park Pride Day. Congrats to those who put in all those necessary manhours.

While out earlier that morning I could tell something wasn't quite right with my car. But I had so many things to do I couldn't let car trouble stop me. So I had my meeting. I went by Homeland Park. And then I was on my way to the Post Office when my car suddenly stopped.

Ohhhh, it was a nightmare... momentarily... that is. So many nice people stopped and offered to help. My husband and brother were on the way. So I knew I was okay. But I also knew that if I hadn't been able to reach them, I was in good company.

In short, yesterday with all its rain and drizzle, turned out to be a real positive day. People in this community never cease to amaze me.

Thank you to all those good folks who stopped to lend a hand.
