Annoyed
Posted September 29, 2008
Yes, I'm annoyed. With myself. Again.
So I recently took a placement test at my university to determine what level of Japanese I should be in. Me being me, I tried really hard on it, right up until the end, where I decided to be lazy. I decided to be lazy on the writing portion, and so I wrote a crappy essay that didn't put any coherent thoughts together. Now it's coming back to haunt me.
I got placed into the lower level of Japanese, one which will be basically nothing but review for me for the semester. I talked to the adviser, and the current options look okay, but not too promising. He said I was right on the border between intermediate and beginners, and that because my essay looked poor, they had decided to place me in beginners. After much talking, we decided that I would be okay to take the higher level class, but the only problem is, there's a seat limit. There's about 220 kids taking the class out of a possible 225, but there's a group of students coming late next week who have to take the test. Depending on where they place, I could be wasting a semester.
Yeah, I know, that was stupid. You don't have to tell me.
My other option currently includes switching over to the other intermediate class, the regular one, and going from there for the semester. Honestly, that seems like a plausible course of action, but I have to wait until really close to the deadline to pull of the switch because of the students who are coming next week.
Yeah, I know. It was stupid.
Well, raise your hand if you want to pray for me.
*raises hands*
