Saban says he isn't worried about Koenning's comments

Posted August 27, 2008

Well, the Vic Koenning Escalade controversy is pretty much dead. Finally. This morning, Alabama coach Nick Saban said he isn't concerned about outspoken Clemson defensive coordinator Vic Koenning's shots at Alabama recruiting and whether several highly touted Tide signees drive Cadillac Escalades.

Was there a fallout from Koenning's comments, Saban was asked on today's SEC Teleconference?

"No, none at all," Saban said. "We try to do everything in a first-class way here at Alabama. We have tremendous respect for the rules, we do everything the right way, and we have respect that they do the same thing at Clemson. We're focusing on our game preparation and really... it's not even an issue."

With that in mind, here's a couple of links - some Vic-related, some not. In this link, the Birmingham News reports that Julio Jones actually drives a used Chevy Tahoe, not a new Escalade. Here is a great column from the Birmingham News on how Vic car-jacked game week.

Here's an interview that I and Charleston Post and Courier beat writer Larry Williams did with Mobile Press-Register beat writer Gentry Estes on his blog.

And finally, here's a story from Estes regarding Saban's concerns about his pass rush against Clemson.

Hope you enjoy.. more later.
