A couple of Wednesday links

Posted October 1, 2008

I love going to the mailbox. Never know what you're gonna get. Could be bills, could be SI, could be something cool. Today, it was the third.

I opened up a box from the Missouri athletic department, and it contained

a Chase Daniel ViewMaster. Now, as a member of the Football Writers' Association of America, I get a lot of college football hype-tripe, promoting players for various awards. This just might be my coolest piece of swag ever.

Now, onto some Clemson links. ESPN ACC blogger Heather Dinich says the pressure is on for Tommy Bowden.

Pat Forde says Clemson is

September's biggest bust

"From preseason No. 9 to unranked and 3-2, the Tigers have cemented their reputation as serial underachievers. The season-opening rout against Alabama looks a bit more understandable now, given the way the Tide have played -- but to bookend the month with a home loss to Maryland is classic Tommy Bowden. Clemson must feel especially pleased with itself for giving Bowden a contract extension after he flirted with Arkansas in December. What will it be this year, Music City or Chick-fil-A?"

Funny you should ask, Pat.

ESPN also has waaay early bowl projections - one suggests Clemson in the Music City, the other in D.C.'s new Congressional Bowl against Navy.

If that one comes true, you might get the wonder of an early-December coaching search 'round these parts.
