Is Westside's offense good enough to beat Hanna?
Posted August 27, 2008
That's a question that is somewhat of an unknown for the first time in at least four seasons. Three years ago, Thomas Griffin, Moe Brown and the high-octane passing offense had plenty to outscore the other team. The last two years, Montez Hatten has done his share to topple the Jackets.
What about now?
QB Brandon McCann looked good in the weight room this summer, but will that translate to the field? What happens if his offensive line breaks down?
Savayea Glenn has taken control of the running game, but since he's playing on defense, will he have enough energy to gain a lot of yards?
"We’re going to come out and run the ball, that’s our whole goal," senior center Cameron McCarley said. "The running game is going to open up the passing game, and the passing game’s going to open up the running game. If we can’t establish the run, we’re going to have some problems pretty early. I have confidence we can run the ball. Savayea’s doing a whole lot better."
We'll see on Friday, but without a big play or two from someone like WR Demetrious Swinger, the Rams might need to rely on their defense to pull this one out.
