</title><link>http://independentmail.com/news/2008/jul/23/belly-jam-band-mae-west-returns-clemson/</link><description>Mae West, a relatively new jam/rock band in Clemson, enjoyed its first live show at Griffin’s at the beginning of July. It was not your average first gig. Instead of a half-filled room, Griffin’s was packed inside and out with nearly 400 people. The police were even called in to disperse the crowd in the street outside. That’s not so bad for a first gig, said lead guitarist Hudson Thompson.

</title><link>http://independentmail.com/news/2008/jul/23/be-critic-dark-knight/</link><description>Christian Bale returns to the role of Batman, once again doing an admirable job of portraying the hero’s struggle to stay away from the dark side of morality, this time portrayed in the Joker. Most of the film’s talk will be about the late Heath Ledger’s performance as the maniacal bank robber, and rightly so, but Bale remains the film’s center.
