Woodruff defeates Abbeville

Woodruff defeated Abbeville 38-21 in the semi-finals of the Upperstate AA playoffs on Friday, Nov. 21, 2008. Abbeville's Dureal Elmore ran for more than 140 yards in the first half and Woodruff scored their first touchdown on a 50-yard pass to start the second quarter. Fans for both schools braved freezing temperatures to cheer on their teams.

The Lions scored 22 unanswered points including touchdowns from DeAndre Hopkins and Michael Wingard to advance to the third round for the second straight year.

Cheerleaders from Walhalla shouted for the Razorbacks, hosting the Bulldogs of Pendleton High School on a rainy Friday night in Walhalla. Fans came with umbrellas, ponchos, and even tents, tooting their horns, and waving flags. Pendleton took a 21-14 lead into halftime, but Walhalla prevailed 28-27 in their region play.
