Anderson Joes eliminated from South Coast League baseball playoffs

The Anderson Joes, unable to play their final home game of the regular season Saturday night because of heavy thunderstorms, saw their playoff hopes die when the Macon Music swept the South Georgia Peanuts, 6-1 and 6-5, in a South Coast League doubleheader.

The Music clinched the second-half playoff spot and will face the Peanuts in the first of a best-of-five playoff at 7 p.m. Friday at Albany.

The Joes, who struggled in the first half of the season, made significant line-up changes and were three games above .500 at 22-19 after Friday’s game against Charlotte County.

Due to lightning in the area on Saturday night, Anderson Memorial Stadium lost power and the Joes-Redfish game was canceled.

The Joes had Sunday off and will play a three-game series at Macon beginning today. It is the final series of the regular season for both Anderson and Macon.

Win or Lose, I think the Joe's did a wonderful job, this being thier first year. My grandkids and I can hardly wait till the 2008 season begins. God Bless You Joe's!

Being it's first year, I think that the Joes were awesome. I am a prejudiced proud mom, but I still think that the Joe's offered worthy play for Anderson. Staci Noles, Kevin Noles proud mom
