Mr. and Mrs. George William Harper

ANDERSON, SC - Mr. and Mrs. George William Harper celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary April 25, 2008 with a family celebration at their home. The couple were married April 25, 1943 at Gluck Methodist Church in Anderson. Ellie Harper is the former Ellie Watson Tiller, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Luther Thornton Tiller of Hart County, GA. George William Harper is the son of the late Dr. and Mrs. George Tinsley Harper of Newberg, GA. The couple have three sons, Kenneth Wayne Harper and wife, Kim, of Anderson, James William Harper and wife, Diana, of Anderson and George Thomas Harper of Travelers Rest, SC. They have five grandchildren, Marc Harper, Christa Buchanan, Claire Harper, Jesse Harper and Ben Harper. They also have six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. The Harpers have five living generations in their family. Mr. Harper is retired from Sullivan Hardware after 37 years of service. Mrs. Harper is retired from Anderson Area Medical Center after 38 years of service. The Harpers are charter members of Norris Hill, PCA and have attended since the inception of the church. The couple attribute their long lasting marriage to love, dedication and the love of God.
