Orian Rugs to celebrate its employees and 1,000 days of safety

STORY TOOLS

— Orian Rugs, a domestic manufacturer of woven rugs with North American headquarters on S.C. 81 in Anderson, will hold an Employee Appreciation Day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday.

As part of the celebration, Orian executives will thank plant employees for 1,000 days of working continuously plant wide without a lost-time accident.

Orian Chief Operating Officer Wim De Pape says it is a tremendous accomplishment for the company,

“With 300 employees onsite and most of the operation working on a 24-hour, 7-day a week basis, this is a major achievement and we want to thank every employee and every manager for working hard to make their environment safe,” he said in a statement.

Employees and their families are invited to the plant for what Susan Lill, Orian vice president of human resources, said is like an old-fashioned company picnic,

“In addition to a lunch of hotdogs and hamburgers with all of the trimmings, we will have plant tours, toys and games for the kids, music and karaoke, and door prizes for all employees who attend,” she said. “We had more than 200 people last year.”

Orian Chief Operating Officer Wim De Pape says he plans to make two major announcements at the Employee Appreciation Day,

“Next year marks the 30th anniversary of Orian Rugs in Anderson and we are planning a year-long celebration,” he said. “In conjunction with our anniversary, Orian is also announcing the launch of our company-wide Goin’ Green campaign.

“As part of Orian’s focus on health and safety, we have taken significant steps toward sustainability. Our Goin’ Green campaign will offer every employee the opportunity to do their part for the environment.”

Orian Rugs is one of the oldest continuous domestic rug manufacturing companies in the country. Orian is a division of McThree Industries, a world-wide manufacturer of woven rugs and carpets.

I work in a carpet/rug plant. This is a great accomplishment. Great job guys, you give me and the plant I work at something to shoot for. Also, I think Karastan makes better rugs.
