Send Bryant back to Senate

STORY TOOLS

In our modern two-party political system, Republican candidates are typically the ones who seek to follow the dictates of God and also fight diligently to uphold the Constitution. On the other hand, Democrats frequently seek to enact legislation to undermine the authority of God (gay marriage), weaken the moral fiber of this country (supporting abortions) and pervert the Constitution (gun control).

Not only is this difference in political philosophy crystal clear in this year's presidential race, it is also quite evident in our local state senate race between Kevin Bryant and Marshall Meadors.

Between the two candidates, only Kevin Bryant has shown an unwavering commitment to the Constitution and to the people of this community, without seeking personal praise for his accomplishments. Marshall Meadors is far too liberal to represent this community in the state senate. With Kevin Bryant in office,we do not have to worry about him supporting any immoral legislation, mocking the Constitution or seeking glory for his own purpose.

Kevin Bryant has recently been vilified by the liberal media, including this newspaper, for his display of a political satire cartoon on his web site. Making an issue of this satire is sidestepping the real issues in this race: effective conservative principles vs. ineffective liberal principles. For Anderson County, the choice is clear. Do not let Marshall Meadors go to Columbia and possibly make a mockery of our values, morals and beliefs. Vote for Kevin Bryant.

William E. Phillips, Anderson

Well said, Mr. Phillips.

Soory FLASH...I couln't disagree more.

I'll be making out my check to help re-elect Mr. Bryant as he represents the Conservative voter.

I've had conversation with Mr. Bryant. I didn't and don't get my education from media. I looked into his performance and his objectives. He's my candidate.

"He gets his orders from a small group of supporters, and does only what they allow him to do".that's politics from the local level up to the federal level.the president can
only do what a group of supporters allow(congress).

That may be true. That vocal minority has raised questions on the local level that deserve an answer. Why did the Anderson County budget grow by a factor of 5 in a ten year period? Why did our budget go up 20% in one year? Why is the tax burden per person almost 80% higher in Anderson County than it is in nearby Greenville County? Why has our road budget been flat for almost 10 years, while other spending has grown at a rate far in excess of the growth of this county? Why is it our administrator thinks nothing of spending money on expensive hotel rooms in New York City, (Mandarin Orient at Columbus Circle, check the nightly rate) that ended up costing thousands, but balks at the idea of putting out County financial records on-line? He cites that it would cost us $50,000 a year.

I saw the political satire on his Blog, and that’s all it was, political satire. Why is it that “so called” “progressives” have to use insulting language, putdowns, and rhetoric instead of debating the facts and issues?
