Let's Do Lunch: Sullivan's Metropolitan Grill

STORY TOOLS

All too often, we don’t go somewhere new or different because we don’t know what to expect. That is where this feature, “Let’s Do Lunch,” comes in. Each week, we will highlight a different spot for lunch that you can try. We will tell you about prices, atmosphere and anything else you need to know before showing up and chowing down.

And if you have a place we should go, don’t hesitate to drop a line. It’s always lunchtime around here.

Sullivan’s Metropolitan Grill

208 S. Main St., Anderson; 864.226.8945

Most of us think that Sullivan’s Metropolitan Grill is all about fine dining and food served most at the dinner hour. And if you don’t, well, you either are lying or you already know about this Anderson staple and its great lunch.

If you have thought about going down to this restaurant for a bit of lunch on a weekday afternoon but haven’t already, you’d better get there soon.

The Sullivan’s atmosphere during lunch is a stark contrast to the evening dinner service. The servers are a bit more casual (they wear T-shirts rather than collared ones with ties), and the sun that comes in from the skylight above provides a ton of light all afternoon.

Whether at a table out front or hanging out in the bar and lounge area of The Speakeasy, Sullivan’s lunch menu isn’t at all intimidating and features some unique fare that won’t break the bank.

On this day, I went with The Mediterranean pita wrap that includes thin slices of turkey with onion, lettuce and sprouts topped with provolone cheese and a cucumber and yogurt sauce. Our server suggested a slice or two of bacon, which put the whole thing on another plane of goodness. With the restaurant’s signature pasta salad on the side, it was a perfect lunch that came quickly, considering it was the middle of the lunch rush on a Friday afternoon.

Prices are reasonable, going from $6 to $9, and you usually can get a seat anytime during lunch. All in all, while dinner at Sullivan’s certainly is very good, lunch there could become a favorite.

Be sure to ask for the JRP discount. Or better yet, just put it on his tab!

sbebe,

welcome to the area.

Sullivan's is a nice place, and we have a wonderful group of locally-owned businesses downtown.

If you haven't been there yet, drop in there sometime. Whether going there for lunch or dinner, or just going to the Speak Easy lounge there for a beer or other libation, it's a nice place... nice atmosphere with nice people.

And the Downtown area has some promise for some excellent prospective growth and activity.

Since you're new to the area, be sure to make it a point to check out the Downtown Sounds at the Courthouse on Thursdays.
:)

Plain.
Simple.
