ANDERSON COUNTY The economy may be slowing, but Dunkin’ Donuts’ expansion plans are not.
Greer-based Kainos Partners is scheduled to open new Dunkin’ Donuts locations in Honea Path and Anderson by the end of the year. The Honea Path store is connected to the Spinx station on East Greer Street and should open Aug. 18. Building permits also have been filed for a 3,638-square-foot store at 1807 E. Greenville St. in Anderson.
The East Greenville Street store will be part of a two-tenant shopping center near Shadow Creek Apartments and should open in November. Anderson’s existing Dunkin’ Donuts store at Pruitt Shopping Center on North Main Street is to be rebuilt in 2009, said Bart Thorne, president and chief operating officer for Kainos in South Carolina.
Dunkin’ Donuts sells 52 varieties of doughnuts, more than a dozen coffee beverages, bagels, breakfast sandwiches and other baked goods. But the new Dunkin stores are not the traditional quick breakfast stop. Many include outdoor seating, softer lighting, bar-style seating along windows and wireless Internet availability. Thorne said the rebuild on North Main Street will be no exception.
“This too shall pass,” he said about the economy, “And we’ll rebound nicely.”
By the end of the year, Kainos will have added 21 South Carolina locations in two years, Thorne said.
Kainos Partners eventually plans to have five Dunkin’ Donuts stores in Anderson County and 40 in the Upstate. Each Dunkin’ Donuts location employs 17 to 20 people, which means the doughnut chain should have about 100 employees in Anderson County after its expansion is complete.

if we are getting new donut shops that might be a sign that the city might be increasing their police force.i just had to comment on this one.no pun intended. lol
WooHoo!! Looking forward to it!!
Excellent News!
This means a few more jobs to be created. Yes, it will not be creating millions of jobs, but every new job created is a step forward rather than a step backward.

And, I like Krispy Kreme Donuts, too, but I also like Dunkin Donuts, as well... they are both different, but they are both good.

Krispy Kreme won't be coming to Anderson anytime soon.I have a friend that has been talking w/ Krispy Kreme for 5 years.Krispy Kreme will only allow a certian number of stores in a region.Greenville & Spartenburg have met the quota for our region.

I am not much of a donut eater these days, but, that being said, I have eaten more donuts in the past 6 months than I ever ate while I was a law enforcement officer (an in the past 6 months I've eaten 1 donut).

Did you know it takes 3 years to completely get the transfats from a doughnut out of your body? It's one of the worse foods you can consume. It was just released yesterday that S.C. is ranked 6th on the list of most obese states. With the expansion of Dunkin Donuts in S.C., we should be able to get a higher ranking soon! Before long, we will have a shortage of doctors to handle the sick people! Encouraging isn't it?

All this doughnut talk made me hungry....I was already planning my trip to DD to get some. Thanks for ruining it for me! :)
I was going to start a diet next week. I guess I'll wait now.
WOW!!
Preston's economic development department is going overboard. Wonder if the trip to China next month will bring even more good paying jobs to the area.

Dang you beat me to the JP comment!

Agree Kickit. I don't understand why people select poor diets and why they abuse their health. A trip to WalMart will show most of the customers overweight and their buggies filled with junk food. Entire families there are obese, including the kids. Fast food restaurants are everywhere and apparently doing well. More doughnut shops should do a great business and help raise our state's obesity ranking above 6.
