Former Blue Flash star Bryant to enroll at T.L. Hanna

STORY TOOLS

Former Calhoun Falls standout wide receiver Martavis Bryant has been approved by the S.C. High School League to transfer to T.L. Hanna. The transfer was approved Thursday. Bryant, who verbally committed to Clemson in February, worked out with Abbeville during spring practice last month.

At Calhoun Falls last season he caught 47 passes for 803 yards and two touchdowns. Bryant averaged 26 yards per kick return, and 13.3 yards per punt return. Along with Clemson, Kentucky, South Carolina, and Georgia are some of the schools recruiting Bryant.

Bryant, a rising junior, played under head coach Kenya Fouch last season at Calhoun Falls. Fouch was hired last month at Hanna.

I understand that this kid's school is closing and he is having to move to another school, but doesnt he have to live here in order to play at Hanna? I'm not trying to bring about any suspicion, just wondering how it was so quickly approved by the SCHSL. I mean Byrnes does this all the time so i know its not unprecedented. Byrnes actively recruits kids. Oh well, hope it works out nicely for him. My other question is will we have anyone that can throw him the ball? Hope so!!!

which parent will be mad @ coach fouch because their kid will loose the starting position since this kid is coming from coach fouch's former school.I bet he doesn't even have to complete try outs before he's named a starter.i bet there will be calls to the district 5 office w/ complaints before the football season is over.

Redrider2k5, I agree 100%. When one of those parents hears that their kid isn't starting anymore because of this kid coming to play at hanna, there will be hell to pay. Sorry coach, but you have no idea of the people you are dealing with. Money talks.

When a school closes such as happened at Calhoun Falls, the students can transfer to any school they wish to. The parents still need to establish residency in the school district but this is looked at much differently then if you transfer from one high school to another when there is no school closure.

First, any parent that would call the district office because their son or daughter got beat out for first string at a sport is a LOSER!!! As was quoted in "Remember The Titans"....

The best player will play!!!

I am looking forward to seeing the combination of Martavis Bryant and Quinton Payton. This could be the best WR combo in the state this year.

Please people grow up kids come and go and the best will play. Wow kinda like work.

andsc29621...thanks for the clarification

well you run a winning coach off and then you bring in some loser who has had multiple coaching jobs in the last few years and hasnt stuck with any of them. Hmmmmm sounds like the days of Hanna football being 0-11 are coming back strong. Hail TL Hanna... Hail 0-11.... Hail a horrible decision......

Best combo in the state.... for a team who cant win jack. If you want to see winning football look no further than James F. Byrnes, they will probably have 5 or 6 WR's better than these 2.

There have been some interesting things that have happened over there.

I read some of this online and any of you can feel free to correct me if Im wrong.

They switched Offensive Coordinators. One was named for the spring and was replaced after the spring.. Neither guy left..just gave it to one and then took it away from him and gave it to another. How does that build loyalty?

Names the former head coach at the middle school the Assistant Head Coach for the Varsity football team.... The coach was on the committee that hired the new head coach...

Just doesnt look good from the outside looking in.. Maybe Im wrong... Love to hear what others think..

I also read that the DC resigned and wanted to stay at Hanna and teach, but was told he was being transferred to an Elementary school...On the other side of town..

Drum roll please....I hear that he has been hired at Westside.

I though teachers were hired to teach--not coach. I didnt think a teacher could be moved because they didnt want to coach football

From what Ive heard about him this will be a great addition to the Westside staff.

Sounds like turmoil on Highway 81. I still dont understand the hire over there, but it makes me happy..

Go Rams!

Would a young athlete with a bright future risk his career on a "loser" coach? Maybe he knows what the coach is capable of.
