Mr. and Mrs. James E. Carithers

STARR, SC - Mr. and Mrs. James E. Carithers of Starr celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary June 14, 2008 at Orrville Methodist Church in Anderson, SC, hosted by their children. The Carithers were married June 14, 1958 at the parsonage of the First Assembly of God Church on Berry Lane in Anderson officiated by Rev. Sanford Jones. Virginia is the daughter of the late George and Idell McConnell of Anderson and is retired from K-Mart. Jim is the son of the late Lester and Alma Carithers of Anderson and is retired from the U.S. Navy and from Michelin Tire Corporation. They have two children, Connie Bennett and husband, David, of Starr, and James Jr. and wife, Karen Ball of Anderson. They have one granddaughter, Kaci Carithers of Anderson. They attribute their long lasting marriage to the love of God and family and being best friends
