Clemson University bioengineers Martine LaBerge and Shalaby W. Shalaby have been inducted as fellows of bioengineering societies.
LaBerge has been named a Fellow of Biomaterials Science and Engineering at the World Biomaterials Congress in Amsterdam. LaBerge is a professor at Clemson and chairwoman of the department of bioengineering. She is also president of the Society for Biomaterials. She is investigating the wear performance of total knee-joint replacements, total knee-joint design and dynamic contact mechanics.
Shalaby, an adjunct professor at Clemson, has been named Fellow of the American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering. His innovative work in the field of polymeric medical devices helped earn him the position.
