Concert series, ‘cruise-in’ to roll again Saturday in Toccoa

STORY TOOLS

— Vintage cars and music lovers will find the way to downtown Lavonia again Saturday night.

The Third Saturday concert series, free to the public, continues at the railroad tracks downtown, where a stage for dancing is set up and an open area is available for family picnicking.

Lavonia restaurants will be open during the evening, with a cruise-in beginning at 7 p.m. and a concert by the band Double Take starting at 8 p.m. and continuing until at least 10 p.m., event organizers said.

The concert series, now a regular event on the third Saturday of each month, has brought varied musical guests to the area, including contemporary country music entertainers last month.

The informal parade of collectible cars and this weekend’s contemporary music concert is a family-oriented event, said Robert Willbanks, chairman of the tourism committee of the Lavonia Chamber of Commerce.

“It’s good entertainment that’s free,” Willbanks said.

Those who attend are encouraged to take lawn chairs or blankets for seating.
