ANDERSON COUNTY Six Upstate residents were indicted Thursday by a federal grand jury in Columbia on charges that include counterfeiting and fraud.
According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, Gerald T. Fowler, 50, of Easley faces two counts of passing and attempting to pass counterfeit money.
Joshua B. Hendrix, 25, of Liberty is charged with one count of passing counterfeit money.
The incidents allegedly took place in March 2006 in Clemson, Anderson and Norris.
Louis M. Perez-Brignoni, 59, of Pickens is charged with defrauding the Department of Veteran's Affairs by failing to nofity the agency of his mother's death and continuing to draw benefits in excess of $19,000, according to officials.
And three Easley residents are accused of defrauding a bank by depositing worthless checks in the amount of $10,000 and making cash withdrawals.
Haley H. Southerland, 21, Samuel J. Southerland, 24, and Terri J. Coker, 43, each face one count of bank fraud, according to officials.
