ANDERSON COUNTY For a few minutes Tuesday, speeding motorists had no reason to worry about a ticket from a police car in the median of Interstate 85.
An Anderson County Sheriff’s deputy was suffering a few embarrassing moments after his attempt to cross the median left his patrol car stuck on a drainage pipe cover.
According to Deputy J. D. Crawford’s report, he attempted to cross a grassy median to the opposite traffic lanes of the interstate about 12:45 p.m. Tuesday near I-85’s 4-mile marker.
“My vehicle became stuck on top of the drainage hole cover,” he said. “I got out of my vehicle to assess the damage and to best figure out a way to remove my vehicle from its position without causing any more damage to my vehicle.”
When another deputy arrived, both men were able to free the patrol car, which had minor damage to its rear bumper, the report states.
