Clover: RBs Tyron Douglas and Ricky Moore have combined for 1,045 yards and 15 TDs. Westside: WRs Demetrious Swinger and Zay Smith have combined for 30 catches for 382 yards and 3 TDs.

Lowdown: Clover beat 3 North Carolina teams, but lost to South Pointe and Rock Hill. Clover is in its third season in 4A, going 26-6. The Blue Eagles returned 6 starters from their state championship team.

Prediction: Clover 24, Westside 14

T.L. Hanna (1-4) at Hillcrest (1-4)

Radio: 1230 WAIM

TV: Charter 58

Hanna: QB Dajun Martin is 29-for-60 in his last 2 games for 260 yards. Hillcrest: QB Tony Thompson accounted for 262 yards and 2 TDs last week.

Lowdown: Both teams have lost 4 straight since Hanna beat Westside and Hillcrest beat Easley. Hanna hasn’t had back-to-back 4-loss starts since ‘99-00. Hanna won this game 34-32 in Week 0 last season. Hanna hasn’t scored more than 13 points in a game since beating Westside.

Prediction: Hanna 28, Hillcrest 12

Belton-Honea Path (1-4) at West-Oak (4-1)

Radio: 103.1 WRIX, 96.3 WGOG

B-HP: QB Nino Woolridge has 654 all-purpose yards and 4 TDs. West-Oak: QB Evan Blackwell completed 6-of-7 passes for 99 yards and 4 TDs last week.

Lowdown: The Bears have lost 3 games by 2 points or less. B-HP’s opponents are 15-11 while West-Oak’s are 10-15. The teams haven’t met since 1991, a 47-12 B-HP win. In its 4 wins, West-Oak has scored at least 33 points in every game.

Prediction: B-HP 28, West-Oak 14

Woodmont (4-1) at D.W. Daniel (5-0)

Radio: 104.9 WCCP

Woodmont: RB Shundrez Smoot has 32 carries for 106 yards and 2 TDs the last 2 weeks. Daniel: LB Wynton Botchway has a team-high 46 tackles, 5 for a loss and 2 blocked kicks.

Lowdown: Daniel’s allowed 61 points, 32 fewer than any other region rival. Daniel hasn’t started 5-0 since ’04 when it won its first 6. Woodmont had 5 turnovers in its loss to Palmetto last week. Daniel won 26-0 last year.

Prediction: Daniel 31, Woodmont 14

Seneca (1-4) at Pickens (5-0)

Radio: 1150 WSNW

Seneca: RB Chris Robinson, a freshman, had 90 rushing yards last week. Pickens: RB Kelby Jones had 27 rushes for 172 yards and a TD last week.

Lowdown: Pickens won last year 40-21 for its third straight win in the series. Seneca hasn’t started 1-4 since 2002. Seneca has shuffled its lineup to make up for 4 season-ending injuries. Pickens QB James Lawson averages 188 passing yards per game.

Prediction: Pickens 35, Seneca 21

Pendleton (4-1) at Emerald (1-4)

Pendleton: WR C.J. Gleaton and RB Tye Burke have combined for 19 catches for 300 yards and 3 TDs. Emerald: QB Billy Pooser was 17-of-33 passing for 148 yards and a TD last week.

Lowdown: Five Bulldogs have scored at least 2 TDs. Pendleton is minus-7 in turnover margin, has been outgained by 241 yards, but has still outscored opponents by 108-98. Emerald’s yielded at least 42 points 3 times.

Prediction: Pendleton 24, Emerald 14

Palmetto (3-2) at Chesnee (5-0)

Palmetto: LBs Nathan Martin and Landon Candler have combined for 75 tackles. Chesnee: QB Cedric Proctor totaled 146 yards and 4 TDs last week. He also ran back an INT for a TD.

Lowdown: The Mustangs are plus-5 in turnover margin. Palmetto outscores opponents 83-46 in the first half, but is on the other end in the fourth quarter, 51-14. Only Nation Ford has scored more than 7 points on the Eagles, and Chesnee also boasts 2 shutouts.

Prediction: Chesnee 35, Palmetto 28

Crescent (2-3) at Abbeville (5-0)

Radio: 92.9 WZLA

Crescent: RBs Bradley Mitchell and Anthony Wykle combined for 95 yards last week. Abbeville: FB Dureal Elmore averages 144 rushing yards per game.

Lowdown: The Panthers have scored at least 28 points 4 times. Abbeville’s won 17 straight in the series. Evan Miller scored an 81-yard kickoff return last week, and the Tigers will need at least one of those kinds of plays to pull the upset.

Prediction: Abbeville 31, Crescent 13

Walhalla (2-3) at Liberty (2-3)

Walhalla: DLs Chris Glenn and Nathan Jackson have combined for 85 tackles. Liberty: RBs Matt Whitworth and Jesse Dixon combined for 221 yards and 4 TDs last week.

Lowdown: Liberty’s scored 93 points, lowest in the Skyline region. Walhalla won 28-13 last season for its second straight win in the series. Liberty’s allowed at least 33 points in each of its 3 losses. After snapping a 3-game losing streak last week, the Hogs are looking to build momentum going into a potential first-place showdown with Abbeville next week.

Prediction: Walhalla 27, Liberty 16

Dixie (2-4) at Blacksburg (0-5)

Dixie: RB Demario Washington has 74 rushes for 344 yards and 5 TDs. Blacksburg: WR Chris Hames has 9 catches for 219 yards and a TD.

Lowdown: Blacksburg has been outscored 181-34 in the first five weeks. Blacksburg’s only scored more than 8 points once this season. In 3 of its 4 losses, Dixie’s given up at least 33 points.

Prediction: Dixie 20, Blacksburg 13

Stephens County (3-1, 1-0) at Eastside (4-0, 1-0)

Radio: 630 WNEG

Stephens: RB Ren Teasley has 58 carries for 234 yards and 2 TDs. Eastside: RB Broderick Alexander had 13 carries for 145 yards and 2 TDs last week.

Lowdown: The Eagles rolled up 406 yards last week against Elbert County. Stephens had 298 against Hart. The teams haven’t met since 2001, a 44-28 Stephens win. Two preseason favorites to win the Region 8-AAA title, Eastside could be Stephens’ biggest threat to the Indians’ fourth straight championship. Eastside’s scored at least 28 points in 3 games.

Prediction: Eastside 31, Stephens 28

Jackson County (1-2-1) at Hart County (1-3, 0-1)

Radio: 980 WKLY

Jackson: WR Marquice Gillespie scored a 67-yard TD last week, one of the few bright spots in a 34-6 loss. Hart: RB John Blackwell had 23 rushes for 139 yards last week.

Lowdown: Hart won last year 20-0. Jackson’s had 3 games decided by 6 points or less, including a tie. Morgan County limited the Panthers to 104 total yards last week, a glimpse of the 0-10 Jackson team from last season.

Prediction: Hart 28, Jackson 14

Morgan County (1-3) at Franklin County (2-2)

Morgan: QB J.D. Hawkins was 13-for-19 passing for 253 yards and 3 TDs last week. Franklin: QB Lee South will get the start while Dashan Merritt serves a suspension for being ejected last week.

Lowdown: The Lions’ Hit Squad defense held Oconee County to 42 first-half yards last week and 3 first downs. Commerce is a common opponent. Franklin defeated Commerce 27-0 while Morgan lost 33-23.

Prediction: Franklin 28, Morgan 17

Oconee County (1-3) at Elbert County (2-2)

Radio: 92.1 STAR

Oconee: QB Zach Mettenberger was 9-for-17 last week for 192 yards and 4 TDs. Elbert: RB Rod Reid and QB Tyheem Newman combined for 16 rushes for 134 yards.

Lowdown: Elbert’s defense scored twice last week, the second time to tie the game in the fourth quarter. Mettenberger threw all 4 TDs in the second half last week. Oconee won 31-13 last year.

Prediction: Oconee 28, Elbert 14
