STORY TOOLS

The Due West Retirement Center, established in 1983, will celebrate its 25th anniversary today, with activities beginning at 11 a.m., CEO Paul Pridmore announced.

Tours of the center will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by luncheon at 1 p.m. and the anniversary ceremony at 2 p.m. Other commemorative events will precede Saturday events throughout the week.

The Due West Lions Club has made a $250 gift to the center to help defray costs of the anniversary celebration. Col. John A. Simpson, Lions Club president, said the gift was in appreciation for the DWRC’s serving as host of the Due West Lions Club meetings since the club’s founding in 1997, including serving of meals at the monthly meetings.

The Due West Retirement Center, with 100 residents, includes The Village, independent living apartments, houses and cabins; Wylie Hall, assisted living apartments; and Carlisle Nursing Center, a full service nursing facility.
