ANDERSON COUNTY When you go to see “The Express,” which opened last Friday in theaters all over the country, don’t forget to keep an eye out for the character of Floyd Little toward the end.
The actor playing this Syracuse football legend is Anderson native Chad Boseman.
Boseman won the role of Little in the film and can reap some of the recognition as another successful local actor from the Electric City. The 32-year-old, 1995 graduate of T.L. Hanna High School has always loved drama and the arts and now calls it his full-time profession.
“First it was drawing and the like,” said Carolyn Boseman, Chad’s mother, “but he has always had a love of acting.”
After high school, Chad went to Howard University and graduated in 2000. From there, he moved to New York City where he took up writing, directing and acting, including roles in “Law & Order,” “Third Watch” and the soap opera “All My Children.”
Recently, he moved to Los Angeles to take advantage of the many auditions available there and has scored roles in a variety of film and television projects.
“The Express” tells the story of Ernie Davis, the first black football player to win the Heisman Trophy. Chad plays Floyd Little, an All-American from Syracuse who went on to play for the Denver Broncos.
The whole Boseman family — and extended family — has already seen the film.
“That’s my child, of course I loved it,” Mrs. Boseman said. “He only has a small role, but the whole movie was great.”
Chad can also be seen in ABC Family’s “Lincoln Heights” on Nov. 11 and Nov. 18, NBC’s “ER” on Nov. 6 and CBS’s “Cold Case” on Nov. 30. He is also preparing to travel to Mexico, according to family, to shoot the new Fox series “Person’s Unknown.”
Chad is the son of Leroy and Carolyn Boseman of Anderson.
