All too often, we don’t go somewhere new or different because we don’t know what to expect. That is where this new feature, “Let’s Do Lunch,” comes in. Each week, we will highlight a different spot for lunch that you can try. We will tell you about prices, atmosphere and anything else you need to know before showing up and chowing down.
And if you have a place we should go, don’t hesitate to drop a line. It’s always lunchtime around here.
Creekside Bar-Be-Que

If you drive by Creekside Bar-Be-Que on Salem Church Road any Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday, chances are pretty good you are going to stop. After all, who can resist the sweet, smokey aroma of meat being slow-cooked to perfection?
For four days out of the week, Creekside Bar-Be-Que is open to lunch lovers and diners looking to grab some ribs, pulled pork, Brunswick stew or beef brisket. Regulars of the spot make a point to visit at least once a week while they are open, while newcomers often get lucky and show up at just the right time.
One of those times is Thursday or Friday around lunch. Creekside is a huge building, so they have plenty of room to satisfy a large party or just one for a quick lunch. You are seated with a smile and can get anything from a soft drink to a water or sweet tea in record time no matter how busy the staff is.
Ordering is tough, unless you know what you want. They offer all manner of barbecue from smoked chicken to ribs, beef brisket to pulled pork. You can get lunch portions with your choice of a side or go for the big plate with three sides, a couple pieces of Texas Toast and a portion of your meat of choice.
The pulled pork is great, from all accounts of the diners around you, but this day I went with something you can’t get at every barbecue joint in town: beef brisket. I added a baked potato, baked beans and slaw, but they also offer up fries and a barbecue classic, Brunswick Stew, if you are into that.
Don’t start reading your issue of Be in between ordering and getting your food because you will barely have time to read one page. Creekside slow-cooks all week long getting ready for the weekend and they are ready and waiting for the orders to come flying in. Before you know it, you’re chowing down using any of their four sauces from mild to hot to mustard and extra hot.
It fills up pretty fast on Thursday and Friday at lunch, so don’t be embarrassed to get there when they open their doors at 11 a.m. But the servers are on the ball and keep you happy and full.
They accept all forms of payment including credit cards, cash and check. It’s easy to get in and out in about 40 minutes, so a lunch hour is perfect for this kind of outing.
It’s been considered some of the best barbecue in town, and one trip could prove it to you.

The Brisket is my favorite. You're right, that can be hard to find. The barbecue is also very lean. But I love to get the brisket especially when you get a lot of the outside part of it with all the seasonings on it. I think I know where I will be having supper tonight!
I like Creekside but their "pulled pork" is not pulled! It is very very chopped up. In fact, add a little water and you have BBQ soup!!
I agree, it's one of the best. Since Sonny's Bar-B-Que closed, I go to Creekside more often.
