A year after Southside won 40-7 at Wren, Golden Hurricanes coach Jeff Tate is concerned with Southside’s athletes, namely quarterback Justin Goldsmith.

Last year, Goldsmith was 10-for-18 for 178 yards with three touchdown passes and an interception.

“There’s as athletic as anybody we’ve played, or will play,” Tate said. “It will be difficult to keep Goldsmith hemmed up because even when you pressure him, he’ll back up, and just scramble and make you get out of a lane, or get out of position, and because he’s so athletic, he’ll get around you.”

It doesn’t help that Wren is dealing with a slew of injuries ranging from serious knee and leg injuries to linemen, to a dislocated finger and turf toe.

“It’ll be a huge task for Wren, there’s no doubt about that,” Tate said. “We don’t match up well with them. They’re very athletic, and everybody knows what we are.”

I know Coach Tate has a huge task ahead of him at Wren, but one positive is the turnout of players he's getting since taking over the program.I hope the community and fans stay supportive of Jeff, and he will build Wren into a winning program.
