In 1941, I was an instructor pilot at Cochran Field in Macon, Ga. Several of the instructors took our cadets on cross-country flights and usually we went to Anderson.
When we arrived at the airport, a lot of the residents of Anderson came to see the planes land.
Most of the residents brought drinks, sandwiches and cookies. It was a really nice experience. During this time all of the cadets were British and your hospitality made them feel most welcome. Thank you for being so nice to all of us.
