ANDERSON COUNTY Some Anderson County vehicle owners continue to provide opportunities for thieves in spite of roughly 120 vehicle break-ins since Oct. 9.
Anderson County sheriff's deputies are investigating six complaints that were made on Friday and Saturday about thieves entering unlocked vehicles and stealing unsecured possessions.
Deputies said the six reports relate to break-ins on Prater Lane in Townville; on Lewis Street, Whitehall Road, Knollwood Drive and Asbury Road, all in Anderson; and at Marathon Church on Roe Road, which is in Anderson County but has a Greenville address.
Losses of roughly $1,600 were reported, including losses of tools, jewelry and electronics.
In one incident, two thieves escaped with their lives after a homeowner fired a warning shot around 12:45 a.m. Sunday on Asbury Road, according to the incident report.
The resident fired into the air, causing two men inside his vehicle to run, dropping stolen items as they fled, according to the report.
So far, deputies have made four arrests in unrelated incidents believed to be part of the spree of vehicle break-ins.
A fifth arrest made Saturday for a break-in does not appear to be related to the recent spree, according to Susann Griffin, Sheriff's Office spokeswoman. But Britini Corcoran, 19, of Azalea Drive in Anderson is charged with breaking into a vehicle, underage possession of alcohol and petty larceny, according to official records.
The group of four people arrested related to the spree includes Terrance Irby, 19, who has said he is homeless. Irby is in custody in lieu of a $50,000 bond after Anderson police charged him Oct. 23 with the theft of 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe truck valued at $30,000. Irby has been charged with seven vehicle break-ins in the county, Griffin said.
Other arrests include Stephen Odom, 18, of Ashton Lane in Anderson, who was arrested by deputies on Oct. 21 and charged with four counts of breaking into vehicles, two counts of grand larceny and one count of petty larceny, according to Anderson County Detention Center records.
Ryan Langston, 19, of Old Trail Road in Anderson was arrested Oct. 20 and charged with one count of breaking into a motor vehicle and petty larceny, according to records.
Deputies arrested Eugene Burriss, 52, of 509 Crescent Drive in Anderson on Oct. 18 and charged him with one count of breaking into a motor vehicle and petty larceny.

The article says Irby is still being held but the others are probably out on bond and breaking into cars again. A teenager that lives near me was charged in 2006 for breaking into cars and he STILL hasn't went to court. His case is " pending" according to General Sessions records. He's been out on bond and has racked up several more charges in the last 2 years.
Lock your doors is the best advice anyone can give you.
As an Ex-Con I can tell you that while it won't stop a criminal from taking your possessions, it highly deter them. There are plenty of criminals that will only look for cars that are unlocked and if they are locked they will leave them alone. It absolutly amazes me that people still leave there doors unlocked for any amount of time under any circumstances in this time and day.
But honestly it's not the people who are going to break into your car while your not in it that you need to worry about, it's the people that will put a gun in your face while your in your car to get your possessions.
I carry a gun almost everywhere(everywhere that it's legal to do so) I go, I suggest you look into doing the same.
