— Gracie Floyd, the Democratic incumbent for the Anderson County Council District 2 seat, is the only council candidate facing a challenger for the upcoming general election.

Floyd will face Republican challenger Bill Holder on Nov. 4.

Floyd, who has served on council since 1999, following the death of her husband, William Floyd, said for her the race is about people.

“I am a people-tician, not a politician. I am running for the people of Anderson District 2 and their concerns,” Floyd said.

Floyd said her record of involvement in the community and her achievements spoke for themselves.

Since entering office, she said, she has worked hard to clean up her district, including getting a $400,000 grant for clean up of the mill sites, as well as providing plans to clean up and rehabilitate the Alphabet Streets.

Floyd said she has started more 15 community groups that work to better the quality of life for those in her district and help area residents to become involved in the community.

Challenger Bill Holder said Floyd’s record is not enough.

Holder said the biggest issues facing the district are jobs, crime and fiscal accountability.

One of many council candidates calling for a full forensic audit this election year, Holder said residents want and need to know how, where, why and by whom tax money is being spent.

He said unemployment also is a key element in the race. Holder calls for development of local infrastructure to help bring in new businesses to the district, and to start a district business incubator to help small businesses come to the area.

An alert has already been put in place. We will monitor the members of JEBCO to see how much effort and influence they attempt to exert to assist Gracie Floyd in her re-election bid. I would be interested in a list of the "fifteen organizations" she has started. Did she give our tax money to all of them? It is these organizations she supports financially (you remember the ones...they refuse to have any accountability for the money she has given them) that get out the vote for her. That is why she is so concerned about what the forensic audit will include before voting for it. She and Joey Preston take little trips together, so I am sure Gracie is getting good tutoring.

Cindy, I thought you were going to start your medication? You decided against it? Oh you thought THEY might put something in it. Sweetie that's why you need it you have paranoid disorder the medication will help you find reality and you will stop having all these negative thoughts.

Gracie Floyd, like all other County Council members, gets tax dollars for a discretionary recreational fund. Those funds, until this year, were $25,000 per year. It is now to $30,000 per year. Since 1999 she has received $250,000. In these past 10 years she has given over $87,000 of those funds to the Broadway Johnson Estates Civic organization, known as JEBCO. That’s over one-third of her discretionary budget. For a group that represents only about one-percent of her district, how did they qualify for one-third of those funds?

Also, this year she gave $2000 for the balloon fest from her district recreation funds. How much benefit did district 2 get from that expenditure. Did motels and restaurants in district 2 benefit? The districts that had any benefit were district 1, 4 and 5, for that is where the motels restaurants and bars are located near the venue. District 2 has serious needs, and what little they have needs to stay in the district. Find out more at http://www.graciefloyd.com

Actually under Gracie Floyd's leadership crime has grown in her district. Maybe some of her funds could be used to help the people of the district with such problems that lead them to crime. Something needs to be done with that district...

All you have to do is ride through Gracie Floyd's district and see how much it has gone down in the past 10 years due to her non-leadership.
The district needs a real representative who can do something.

Good luck Bill Holder.

Gracie Floyd is out of touch with her community. Her District 2 is the worst area in Anderson County and has not been improved upon but has slowly went down hill during her tenure. She needs to be removed and let someone else actually do their job and improve all of District 2 and not just certain areas of it. Vote Bill Holder for County Council District 2 Seat.

To all of the above posters, I would ask how many of you actually live in District 2? The answer: NONE.

You do realize that the Cleveland Browns have a better shot at winning the Super Bowl than this District 2 transplant (Holder).

Historical Fact: The Cleveland Browns are the ONLY NFL team to never have participated, let alone won, a Super Bowl in the modern era (1966-present).

Think about that . . .

Gracie in a LANDSLIDE.

... stupid ...

Gracie is going to win big. I am not in her district but I know reality when I see it.
