Two Anderson County women have different outcomes after receiving calls from strangers

— Anderson officials are searching for one man who entered a house and stole jewelry while a 44-year-old woman was bathing her grandchild and for another man who beat an elderly woman after walking though a side door.

Around 11 a.m. Saturday, a man reportedly entered an unlocked door on Brookmeade Drive and stole a 5-inch gold chain with “one big heart in the middle and two smaller hearts,” according to the police report.

The jewelry is valued at $110, according to the report.

Susan Dorsey, who was at the bathtub, heard someone “walking down the hall and moving things around,” before calling out and hearing the person leave, according to the incident report.

Dorsey and the child were not harmed.

No other information was immediately available Wednesday.

Around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Betty Looney, reportedly in her 80s, suffered severe injuries to her face when a masked assailant entered her Rexton Drive home and beat her.

Anderson County sheriff's deputies responded after her son called 911. James Looney said he was talking with his mother when the line went dead. When he called back, his mother told him that a masked man had about beaten her to death.

No arrests have been made in either in incident, and it was not known as of Wednesday if authorities have received indication of whether the incidents are related.
