in response to HotWrmSeason: This is how innocent people get killed when unecessary chase's are done! Start chasing on foot and not in the patrol cars unless it's a killer, or someone who has kidnapped someone, that's in real DANGER! No chase over drugs, and or failure to stop for a blue light routine is necessary.

As per HotWrmSeason:
Police to the suspect- "Sir, excuse me, before we begin this chase, might I ask why you are running away? Oh, you're just selling drugs? OK, I won't chase you, just be careful and don't break any more laws as you sell drugs to the nice children down the street. Have a nice day!"
If that makes sense you you HotWrmSeason, then I have some nice seashore to sell you in Arizona.
in response to Werewolf: Why is it that every time someone says something negative about this place, we're met with the same tired responses? "You've never been to NewSpring! You're just jealous because our church has more members than yours!" I've been to NewSpring several times. I don't take anyone's word for anything. I find out for myself. And as far as numbers go, if your church isn't growing, it isn't doing its job. My problem with NewSpring has nothing to do with how many people go there. My problems with NewSpring are its people, their "preacher" first and foremost. I have never encountered a more egocentric, rude, evil, vile group of individuals in my entire life and, coming from me, that's pretty bad. I encourage everyone to visit the website I posted earlier to Dr. James Duncan's blog. Tell your friends about it. Let it be known who these people really are. They put that man through a living h e l l. All because he had the audacity to voice his opinion. If Perry Noble and his flock can't handle criticism, then they need to find new jobs because they are definitely in the wrong business.

The real question is why you need to say something negative anytime this church is mentioned in the paper. You have the right, but other have the right to rebute your position. Free speech is funny that way. Whether they are tired or not is irrelevant. That people are still blaming Bush for everything that is wrong in the world is tiresome to me, but far be it from me to tell them they can no longer speak that way.
If you're running into rude people at NS, I kinda wonder if you have really been there because my wife and I went there for a couple of years before moving and never once met any rude people in the church.
The real story is that more than 400 people became Christians at New Spring's 10th anniversary service. There are churches that have not reached that number in 10 or more years. Yet those churches feel enabled to speak badly about New Spring. I would rather they seek what God would have THEM do before they let jealousy form their opinions.
As far as the size of New Spring, here is what God says about that: Acts 4 v 1 " But many who heard the message believed, and the number of men grew to about five thousand." If God wanted churches to be small, why does the first one become a "megachurch" within a few weeks of being formed?
And in the end, people who don't use paragraphs are tiresome, people who don't know how to write are definitely in the wrong business.
I can see your opinion in this, but in the end, I witnessed a couple of dozen people applaud at the end of the Avatar movie. It is very rare for a movie to connect with viewers that way, so in that it is as worthy of an Oscar as any of the arty smarty movies that usually get the nod from Oscar.
As far as Titanic goes, yeah, yeah, yeah. Most of why it won was in the production quality of the film, same as Avatar, which was breathtaking at the time. But I also have to admit that at the end, when the ghostly heroine walks up the stairs of a ghost Titanic to meet her ghost boyfriend, as telegraphed as it was, it still hit me like a brick, and turned an adult military veteran and current law enforcement officer into a blubbering idiot.
That too is rare my friend, so I differ with your appraisal of both movies. Perhaps you don't see it yourself, but Cameron speaks a language in movies that people understand in their guts if not their minds.
Running a warship aground while pursuing an enemy vessel will not get a Captain kudos, even if he sinks the enemy he will be held responsible for the loss of his command.
Similarly, if an Army Lt. wins the day, but has lost every one of his soldiers in the process, he will be lucky if he ever even gets to see another unit, let alone lead one.
I hope all of you who are saying "Cost be %&#*ed, prosecute till we get a conviction!" find your own children without school books, your roads lacking in repairs, and the police you depend upon no where to be found. Yes, you caught Preston, but at a cost you and the rest of the people in the county cannot afford.
And afterwards, when all the politicians have milked ever dollar they could from the treasury, they will all go home laughing at how gullible people are for cheering them on. Because that is all this is, a way to separate Anderson County money from what it is supposed to go for, and instead putting it into the pockets of lawyers and friends of politicians, and indirectly right into the hands of the politicians themselves.
realworld,
Your post doesn't even make sense so how can I respond?
In any case, the K-9's are graduates of a training program, badged, rated with job evaluations, and risk their lives to protect officers, pursue criminals, find evidence and serve the people of Oconee County. And, as I said, most of us mourn the loss of this K-9 who served with honor.
If you don't agree with that, no problem as its your right to feel that way. I just don't understand why you feel the need to disparage others opinions and feelings in this matter.
Realworld, You are entitled to your opinion, as we are. We feel otherwise, and choose not to adhere to your view. Get over it yourself.
Police dogs are badged officers, serving the community as any other public servant would. That puts the police dog into a higher category than a simple animal.
In the long run, Americans love their pets nearly as much as their own family, and in some cases more, so the loss of this K-9 is a bit of news that most people would care about. Maybe not you, but it was something that I cared about.
Liberals complaining about Rich sending money to SC need to stop throwing stones from the steps of their glass houses. Soros, Moveon.org and a dozen liberal millionaires and their organizations are pumping money to nearly every election, local through national. If it is "shameful" for conservatives, how does it feel to be a hypocrite when you celebrate liberal candidates receiving their funding from 400 West 59th Street, New York, NY?
jmac,
Yes, that is the Springfield XD .45 that she is buying.
I agree that the woman in this story should get some range time, but I have heard verified stories about how law enforcement officers have emptied revolvers at suspect 6 ft away and scored 0 hits due to stress and adrenaline. It was something taught at the Federal Law Enforcement Academy, so it was not just a story, it was backed up by an investigation.
Regarding the Castle doctrine; heck I would like to see that law enhanced to the point that any victim could pursue the criminals up to 100 yds or further without fear of being arrested for a crime.
So long as we are handcuffed by the law, and the criminals are not, we lose. It is long past the time that criminals should be the ones living in fear and not the law abiding citizens. Police cannot protect us, all they can do is wrap yellow tape around the scene and try to catch the bad guy later. I'm not dissing the police, I was one until 2001 when I left for a desk job due to an injury. It just the truth that police cannot protect us like we can protect ourselves.
JD,
As was correctly said above, public funding could not have been allocated for supporting the Fusion Warehouse in any meaningful way, so blaming the city, county or state officials is misplaced.
Those who have fought long and hard for the mythological "separation of church and state" point of view have ensure that anything that has a tint of religion (unless it is politically correct, such as supporting Muslim community centers), will be promptly sued by groups who find such to be "offensive".
Sorry that it works this way, but the anti-Christian citizens and organizations have made it so. I am just waiting for them to be fair and protest public funding for atheist, muslim, hindu or buddist facilities and events. That IS happening, and sadly there are no protest about those. I guess those religions are less offensive.
And yes, atheism is a religion, because it takes just as much faith to deny God as it does to admit He exists.
