You're right. I apologize for getting so off topic of the article, and I over reacted to the issue of race in the comments rather than the article itself. To anyone i have offended that was not my intention.

You're right... i admit.
def. 1) SUPERIOR
def. 2) SYSTEM OF GOVERNMENT

just like the Jim Crow laws this country was rebuilt on after the Civil War. and the provision to free slaves and make them equal that was stricken from the dec. of independence before south carolina would sign off on it?

Those pesky racist blacks... oh wait, that wasn't them was it. They were the VICTIMS and because they have never risen to any SUPERIOR level they cannot have instituted racism.

Guess I'm still right, but you make a valid arguement... I guess.

You can't lump every group together to make yourself the minority. When was the last time you were systematically denied anything for being white?
As a "white" american you will never know true discrimination. You will never be put into remedial classes in 1st & 2nd grade because you were poor and black despite your perfect placement scores. I was 1981 and 82 - in Seneca and was told upfront that "I would be more comfortable there". You won't be told after 6 years of graduate level education "You speak well, not like the other n*****s" to your face by someone who thinks its a compliment. I was, in 2007 - in Anderson.
"We are the minority?" give me a break. That sounds like a holdover from generations of people who systematically denied the rights of another group of people and instilled in you a fear that all minorities deserved to be treated that way.

My grandfather was once told by a white man "If ya'll ever get in charge, you'll probably treat us like we treat you. We can't have that." From that we should learn treat everyone like americans - not black or white or mexican or other and you won't have to worry about who the minorities are. We'll be equal.

To the people who posted earlier about white people never claiming racism, the reason for that is simple. To be affected by racism you must be in a minority grouping, by definition whites cannot be treated as such.

The miss black america pagents are not restricted by race, neither are historically black colleges and universities. In fact a prominent HBCU had a white valedictorian last year for the first time, please note that he was not the first or only white student.

Please people, let's grow up, and attempt to have an intelligent discussion on race that doesn't boil down to "get over it" or "racism is their favorite word". Lumping all black people together into a group and blaming us for any attempt to point out an injustice only makes you look like a racist, or at the very least antequated and ignorant.

Why would McDaniel's witnesses go to the police? Once someone has been arrested it becomes a court matter. They couldn't go to the police and get him UN-arrested. The police are merely there to gather evidence before an arrest, or if they are asked to do so by the solicitors.

The judicial committee based their opinion on the evidence presented to them. As I understand it they asked the accuser to show and she didn't. If you were arrested and the officer didn't show up to court, the charges would be dismissed, wouldn't they?

And why is everyone so quick to assume that he's guilty. I thought this was the country where everyone got a fair trial and was presumed to be innocent until PROVEN to be otherwise. If you don't believe in that move to one of the other countries that does - they are easy to find, the ones with civil wars, evil dictators, or being bombed by America.

These comments expose a fundamental problem with race relations. Everyone is afraid if that discussing it is equal to pointing fingers.

the SPLC website lists Nation of Islam as an active hate group in south carolina. Last time i checked, there weren't many white people in it.

the United Negro College fund and historically black colleges exist because of the institutionalized racism that existed in this country that denied people the right to an education. If their work to continue providing education is wrong, then we have bigger fish to fry than race

People, the acknowledgement of racist actions is not calling all white people racist. It is not calling all black people oppressed. It is there so that we can acknowledge, educate, and hopefully move forward as a somewhat productive and SAFE society. This isn't about one race suddenly becoming superior to another. It is about a level playing field. Supremist groups by definition are attempting to hold someone else down. Shouldn't we be above that. Or at least able to discuss the possibilty?

ummm... don't mean to be picky, but clemson is ranked number 16 in both polls, don't know where 21 & 22 came from.

From the alarmist title to its ridiculous criticism, this article seems like an attempt to undermine a dominant performance by Clemson. Yes, there was one big kickoff return, but what about the other SIX? Then you go on to highlight a missed field goal from a kid who goes 4/6 with 4XP. That's 16 more points than you scored from your couch today. I can't wait to read your next column, "Second place Special Olympics runner simply first to come in last".

Sorry, but there isn't really a story here, and the media trying to invent a story is probably driving him crazy. Please do us all a favor and stop asking Spiller questions about leaving, and stop reporting that he considered it all those months ago. Let the real story be what he does on the field. Let the kid deal with his personal life himself, and stop pestering him with questions about leaving school before you give him a reason to do it.

This situation just draws focus to the "flaw" of American Idol. That being, it is a TELEVISION SHOW. Television shows are not to be taken seriously. They are there to entertain the masses, and fill the coffers of suited executives who are too busy being successful to actually watch their own product.
Were this an actual talent competition (which you must realize by now that it is not), America would have a way to ELIMINATE the weakest talents. In the case of American Idol, the TV show, viewers call to vote for who they like. To heap their support on candidates that they either like, think are cute, or just want irritate people by voting for.
If you think about it, and carefully, there is no way possible for America to vote OUT anyone.
So what can we do? Accept that American Idol, much like 24 or others is merely a season long story. And in this story Sanjaya is clearly the antagonist, and much like Iago in "Othello", we keep watching, waiting to see how he meets his demise. And to further scare you, Iago goes off to meet his death, silent and victorious at plays end.

On ‘Idol’ fans must unite against Sanjaya
