Freebird 22, I agree with your comments 100 per cent. We raised 4 children in a home that had loaded guns for personal and family protection. We also taught our children gun safety from day one. There were no accidents with guns, and our children are all law abiding citizens. Like their parents, they are all properly licensed and respect the rights of others. Responsible people should not be criticized for being gun owners.

How wonderful to read good news and to hear once again of God's miracles. HE performs miracles every day, but all too often HE doesn't get the credit for it. Thank you for an inspiring article that should remind us all that God is alive and well.

All new and nearly new schools are and have been built in Hart County. These nice new buildings have not helped the SAT scores, nor the education of our students. The powers that be have their new "satus" buildings, but what about the students? They are not getting whatever they need to improve their education. There is a problem here, folks.

The Corps of Engineers have to abide by rules and regulations. The dam was built to create hydro-electricity, not to produce a recreational area for anyone. Droughts are relatively common, but when the rains come, the lake level will be restored. Only God can send the rains and He doesn't live at the Corps of Engineers office. Quit blaming the Corps!! Is isn't their fault that it hasn't rained. People who have built businesses near the full water level know that this area has droughts. They should have made a plan in case the lake level decreases in time of drought. I don't hear the farmers who depend on rain for their crops, forming committees at $200,00 to study why the rain hasn't been plentiful for their crops - and that is their living! I guess some people just like to complain.

That was my first thought, too.

MONEY, honey, MONEY. Surely you are not naive enough to think that the published salary of a politician is all the money they get. They all take "under the table" money.
Their wives don't care where it came from; they just look the other way, and go shopping. Wake up, sleeping beauty!!

I remember when the Savannah River had coffer dams in the river while they were working on the Hartwell Dam. It came a big rain that washed the coffer dams away, much to the amazement of the Corp of Engineers. When the Hartwell Dam was finished, there was talk it would take years to fill the lake to maximum capacity. That year we had plentiful rain through the winter and spring and the reservoir was at capacity level that year, again to the amazement of the engineers. The lake depends on the inflow of water to stay at maximum level.I agree the Corps of Engineers have rules and regulations about what they can and cannot do. The Hartwell Dam was built as a hydroelectric producing plant. The lake was a by product of the dam. The Corp of Engineers can do nothing about the weather cycles. It is useless to spend $200,00 on a committe that also can do nothing about the weather cycles. When the rains come, by God's hand, the lake will fill. Until then I suggest we all pray for rain, and when it comes, thank Him for sending the rains. No, the lake is not too far gone. It will recover!

I was glad to see your response. I am in my 70's and I can remember when the Catholic church people were called idol worshipers and non-Christians. I remember when Catholic children in the public school were shunned. I never believed in that. And I was never taught that way. To me it was a Christian church with good Christian people. Like you, I have chosen the church of my choice and I believe the Holy Bible, that Jesus died on the cross and this was God's plan as part of our salvation. We are saved by the Grace of God, (the Father, Son and Holy Spirit). I belong to the Baptist church. The church is not there to please me. We are there to please God and do his work. However, I have to question a church with no accountability to its people as to where and to whom and how the church funds are allocated. What is the big "secret" about that at New Spring? Every member is entitled to know how the money they tithe is being spent. Unless there is some improper spending going on?? What do you think?

Put the baby in protective care or a good foster home until these parents grow up. By then the child will be an adult and decide which parent, if any it wants to see.
