Crenshaw for Sheriff 2008! He is taking care of the residents of Anderson County with quicker response times and more deputies on the road. He has had some problems over the last 4 years, but I don't know of anyone who would not have had the same problems or worse with the mess that he came into. The county was a total diaster when he took charge, couldn't find any deputies unless you looked at dunkin doughnuts, hungry jax, krispy cream and so on and forget them actually arresting anybody. Not to mention they took their sweet time getting to a call, they might get their in 30 min. if you were the lucky ones. NO, I am in no way in a hurry to go back to that mess. No way! I am happy with everything that the sheriff has done. He has made our neighborhoods and our roads safer. Crenshaw for Sheriff 2008!!!

I am soooooo tired of this subject, but since everyone has nothing better to do or anything better to discuss.. Here is what I have to say in response to AndersonCountyResident. First of all if this had been a regular citizen none of us would have known anything at all about it simply because here is what they would have done. 1. They would has crashed. 2. They would have called a relative or someone to come and get them at 5:00 in the morning, because they certainly would not have called the police because they would have given them a TICKET. 3. Once everyone was up and businesses was open they would have went back to the car to meet the wrecker that they called to pull them out of the ditch. They would not have been punished by anyone because NO ONE WOULD HAVE EVEN KNOWN ABOUT IT. Just another faceless person in the sea of life. They only reason we are having this discussion is because the person who did this is a DEPUTY. Next point, He did not place innocent people in danger because there was no one arround at 5:00 AM IN THE MORNING. "Innoncent" people were at home in their beds at that time. Also something was done, HE GOT A TICKET FROM HWY. PATROL read the article again if you can't COMPREHEND IT. Last point, Do you honestly think for a second that he will let this to happen to him again! NOOOOO! It was a simple ACCIDENT. I am sure he will get more rest in the future! It is you who needs to be reasonable and use your head!

Being a police man is a very physical and mental job. No offense, but any idiot can work with wood. It takes physical skill and mental power to be able to deal with the scum of the earth who's only mission in life is to hurt anyone and everyone that they can. ESPECIALLY the ones in uniform who are intent on stopping them from doing what they want to do! As far as their shifts go they work 3 on, 2 off, 2 on, 3 off, 2 on, 2 off and so on...

I am the wife of a police officer and as far as working to help take the load off. I do, as a matter of fact I work a full time job and a part-time job AND I also take classes in college. All wives and girlfriends of police officers that I know love and support their men in uniform. We know how hard and demanding it is to be a police man and we are there to support them in any way that they need.

I know Deputy Baxter personally and he knows he made a mistake. He could have lied about the accident and said he swerved to miss a deer or a dog but he did not. He told the truth of what happened because that is what he does. He is an honest, hardworking individual who would be the first person to help you out of a jam. If he had of lied and said he ran into the ditch to miss a dog or deer then none of this would of made the news. It would have been oh well he had a wreck. It is only because he fell asleep that we are having this discussion. Trust me when I say that he has learned from this mistake and that it will never happen again with him, but whose to say it won't happen to another deputy or that it hasn't already and no one knew about it because they blamed it on something else. This is a job that deputy Baxter loves to do and he is GREAT at his job. This is just a bump in the road for him but he will overcome it and be stronger and more aware because of it.

He was in a wreck and tore up his car. He got a ticket from Hwy. Patrol same as everybody else. I think that is punishment enough. No one got hurt. Saying what if is like saying what if the sun didn't rise tomorrow. Nothing we can do about an ACCIDENT. If people lost their license for having one wreck then everybody would be riding bicycles right now and we wouldn't have to be complaining about high gas prices, but that is neither here nor there. I personally think that we have beaten this dead horse to death and that we should move on to another topic.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! scgirl and everyone else who supports these deputies as much as I do. It is very hard to ride arround in a car for 12 hours at a time especially on "3rd shift". These deputies are human as are we all. I have fallen asleep at the wheel before myself just for a second luckily no accident occured but I did not realize that I was that tired at the time and I am sure this deputy did not realize that he was that tired either. It was an ACCIDENT. It happens to the best of us. If he had pulled over to take a nap I'm sure someone like (mac2007) for instance would have been there to take his picture and put it on the front page of the paper with headlines like (DEPUTY SLEEPS ON JOB. NEWS AT 11:00) Negative people who always look for the worst in every situition make me sick to my stomach. People like Mac2007 wouldn't last a day as a deputy. And as far as the deputies carrying a gun on their hip when they are tired being a receipe for disaster you are WRONG, WRONG, WRONG. If that deputy had gotten a "call" he would not have fallen asleep. Adrenalin kicks in and that is stronger than coffee. Anyway, I am just glad that no one got hurt and I also hope that he doesn't get punished for having an accident. He probably feels horrible that it happened. I know I would.

They were women in handcuffs how hard do you think they were to "catch". I doubt very seriously that the news crew was even there at that time. As soon as that deputy called in and told them what happened I bet every cop in the area was in hot pursuit. It wasn't like they could go far in handcuffs and the only thing the people in the neighborhood did was to call the deputies and let them know where the woman was that was asking for a ride in handcuffs. The deputies did the rest.

Crenshaw did exactly what he should have by calling in sled. This way there was no room for favortism or conflict of interest. He had no control over what they were doing, but when he found out he handled the situtation the way he was supposed to. Way to go Crenshaw! Sorry you couldn't serve 4 more years!
