Well said! I think everyone should listen to both presidential candidates and make a decision based on the man not the party.

Just a thought but would it not be of benefit to AnMed to employ and provide not only funds to the Free Clinic but possibly some additional physicians as well? If that were the case then as "get_real" stated these uninsured wouldn't have to utilize the ER for health care that is not emergent. The hospital is losing a fortune on these cases. Maybe instead of losing who knows how much money they could invest a lesser number of dollars in the Free Clinic to prevent these people from having no alternative but the ER.

Thank you Bonnie for stating so eloquently what I and many other moderate and conservative Republicans have been feeling for the last several months. The local Republican Party Executive Committee has been taken over by a core group of ultra-conservatives who in no way speak for all voting Republicans in the Anderson area. My discontent with the local party began back in June with the censorship of Raymond MacKay by the local Republican Party Executive Committee. Kevin Byrant supported the censoring of Mr. MacKay and in fact responded to your editorial by posting an entry on his blog about "Beating a Dead Horse". For whatever reason Kevin does not seem to be disturbed about the fact that he has offended and alienated not only Democrats but many of his own Republican constituents. According to his own written statement "The posting, not surprisingly, only drew out the virulent and vulgar members of the liberal left whose immediate reaction to any criticism of their candidate includes charges of ignorance and bigotry." He continues time and again to include anyone who disagrees with him as being a member of the liberal left. As a member of the conservative right, a McCain supporter and one who was offended by his lack of judgment in posting the picture I am angered at being referred to as being virulent, vulgar and a liberal leftist. I think it is time for those who are tired of the actions of the local party executive committee and of Mr. Byrant's behavior to stop sitting quietly on the sidelines and to start speaking out. Maybe it's even time for a local party take-over.

In response to Jim
The comments I referred to in my post have been removed. It would appear others found them equally offensive.
I was not in any way referring to illegal immigrants but to comments of hate made against Muslims who are American citizens residing in our city and are practicing professionals contributing to our community.

The letter sent to Mr. Bryant can be found at the above link.
I would hope that residents of Anderson who may be of foreign descent will realize that those above who have written hate-filled messages do not speak for the many others of us here who welcome you and appreciate what you bring not only to our country but our community.
If only Mr. Bryant had taken a moment to consider the consequences of his actions before posting the picture.

The only subject being discussed is the idiocy of Sen. Bryant's actions in posting the now infamous picture on his blog. If you peruse other entries on his blog, for example the "Dead Horse" entry you'll see that this sort of infantile discourse is a regular feature. Kevin fails to ever actually engage in any sort of informed intelligent discussion including at his so-called town hall meeting last night. If he thinks that his blog entry has stimulated discussion about Obama's foreign policy then he obviously has had his head buried in the sand for the last 3 or 4 days and hasn't read any of the postings made on his own blog, national blogs nor has he listened to television news reports. Wake up Kevin! The discussion is about YOU and your lack of judgment. PERIOD!

There are quite a few national web-sites where hundreds of articles and comments have been posted on the above story. What angers me most is that what Mr. Bryant has done doesn't just reflect on him it is also a reflection on all of us who live in SC. His failure to consider the consequences before doing something so obviously stupid should be a lesson for all of us that we elected the wrong person to be our Senator. Luckily, we have a chance to rectify that in November. Mr. Bryant's actions have only succeeded in perpetuating the image that people have of those of us in SC as being stupid racist bigots who still can't read or write and who certainly can't articulate intelligent thoughts. Thanks Kevin. Let's hope we can show the rest of the nation we hold ourselves to a higher standard than you do by electing Marshall Meadors in November. I understand from reading other web-sites that his campaign has contributions coming in from all over the nation. Looks like many from outside SC are hoping we can do better also.

Guys, I really hate that you are leaving the downtown area. The food is wonderful and the friendly staff always made dining there a real treat. While you will be missed downtown I have to say that those of us who love your food and who work in the vicinity of and at the AnMed Health Campus are thrilled that you will be closer to us at lunch time. It will be great to be able to grab something other than fast food for lunch. Hang in there! I predict your business will see a tremendous increase after the move!
